Starvation Diets- Why You Should Avoid Them…

We’ve all seen pictures of top celebs Paris and Nicole and many others who seem to eat very little to nothing or at least that’s what their bodies seem to show.  More so Nicole than Paris but what I want to talk about today might be a sensitive issue to a few of you if not most of you.

Losing weight has been a struggle that many of you like me have had.  And till this day I continue to fight this struggle and there are some good days and then there are some bad ones as well.

This might be the case for you as well but I must warn you against a popular diet that many are doing and that’s what I’d like to call the Starvation Diet.  Many of you may know it as the lemon-juice diet.  Quite frankly either way you put it, this diet can do more harm to you then good.

Sure if you are about to cast for dreamgirls and need to lose weight then you could go on it but what happens when the major event you’re preparing for is done?  Or how about if you pass out during the main event because you didn’t supply your body with the nutrients it needs to function properly.

People we need to eat and we need to eat often.  Losing weight is not difficult if we take the time to plan what we are going to eat ahead of time.

Starvation diets often lead to people getting sick, gaining the weight you lost and possibly even more and not to mention the fact that you can become moody and depending on the person this can cost you a job, a date, a relationship who knows.

Again if nothing else take this as a warning to take your eating serious and if anything at all don’t go about your day starving yourself!

While we are not critics I’d like to know your thoughts about this… Do you agree with this, are you against this, do you have a personal story related to starvation diets? I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

I definitely agree with Geo in this article. It is true that we get so caught up in the way men and women are portrayed in the media that we think that it’s ideal for everyone. Everyone is different, and what matters is that we are healthy. Starving ourselves will definitely do more harm and good. While I know from experience that losing weight is difficult, I have also learned that all of the hard work is worth it.

I can’t stop eating long enough to go on a regular diet…..I could never do a starvation diet.

    Dear Danie,

Okay, no need to ever starve yourself, but an effective wellness plan does require good spleeping habits.
